Friday - The Met
![]()
Mi went to work, I slept in. After meeting him for lunch at East Village. I went to the nearby Leica Gallery, where David Allan Harvey's colorful Latino flavored "Divided Soul" was on display. Afterwards, I went uptown to checkout some new shows at my beloved Met.
It was my third time in the wonderful gigantic maze-like Met during the past 12 months. Everytime I was able to stumble into completely "hidden" treasures. This time was no exception. I ran across the lovely diamond shaped Robert Lehman gallery and saw "Treasures of a Lost Art: Italian Manuscript Painting of the Middle Ages and Renaissance.
Friday -The Met - Dawn of Photography: French Daguerreotypes, 1839-1855
I was reading about this show on New York Times last Sunday. The review mentioned these silver plates gave out an eerie light that was at once incredible realistic and not from this world. After seeing them myself, I completely agree with that statement. The amazing detail of these pictures indicated a way to see beyond our human eyes. The metal glare of them made them seem heavenly in a way. My favorites were in the second to last room, where the photographers went to far and away places and captured Sailors on the Niles, half buried temple in the desert sand, Chinese natives lived in Siberia, and Persian royal court in Tehran, all in the years of 1845-46.
It started to drizzle in the early evening. I met up with Mi when he got off work at 5:30pm. We took subway back to upper east side to have dinner with Mi's sister and her two daughters. It was a quiet and cozy evening. The little girl in the picture was the younger girl: Anna.
Saturday - Central Park
Saturday we wokup to a gorgeous day of New York's Fall. The air was crysp with the scent of winter. But the light was golden and the leaves were falling with a rythm of some invisible song. We slept in, had Dim Sum at Flushing and then headed to town. Our destination: Central Park. Since my past visits to New York City had always been affiliated with some kind of natural or un-natural disasters (blizzard that burried New York City, exceptional snow storm in April, worst Blackout that cut the city off, etc. etc.) and the weather had been either too cold or too hot, I've never been to central park. There were skating rings sparkling in the sun, horse-drawn carriages on the walkway, eccentric musicians playing celtic tones while singing soulful songs in the ancient looking archways. Then there were lots of miniature dogs wearing colorful customs running on the lawn.

In the early evening we went to SoHo for our shopping spree. Back in Mi's place, we took some pictures in our newn outfit. Mi's jacket was from FCUK's Vintage Collection/Desert-Sand-Color-scheme, my sweater ad cargo pants were from my favorite store - H&M!
